UX/UI Design for a Mental Health Support Platform

Volo is a mental health platform that sits in the space between therapy sessions — combining an AI assistant, structured self-guided content, and expert video into one cohesive product. We designed the full UX/UI for its 2025 launch.
The result is an interface built around the emotional state of its users. Every screen defaults to a single clear action. Motion is calm. Navigation never demands decision-making the user doesn't have bandwidth for.

The brief was specific: make a digital product feel genuinely human. Not in the visual-metaphor sense — warm colors and friendly illustration — but structurally. We designed a system where cognitive load stays low by default: one primary action per screen, no competing visual hierarchies, and transitions that reinforce forward progress rather than interrupt it.

The self-guided programme is built on incremental progress — achievable steps with visible momentum, informed by the same behavioural mechanics that make habit-formation tools work. The system adapts to where a user is in the process rather than presenting a fixed linear path.

The AI assistant interface is designed around a conversational register that stays clear without tipping into clinical bluntness. Users are guided toward relevant resources without the experience feeling automated. A separate video library — built around contributions from mental health specialists — gives users access to professional guidance outside of scheduled sessions.

Volo launches in 2025. The platform addresses a real structural gap: the support that needs to exist between one session and the next.
