Mobile-First UX/UI Redesign for an International Auto Import Platform

Davey Japan handles the full cycle of importing vehicles from Japan: sourcing, inspection, and international delivery. The business has grown well beyond its original focus on New Zealand — today it serves clients globally. The website hadn't kept pace. It still read as a regional operation, and the visual language didn't reflect the scale or professionalism of what the company had become.

The redesign covered nine pages: Home, Country homepages, About, Services, Contact, Blog, Blog Post, Cars for Import, and FAQ. The scope wasn't just aesthetic — the information architecture needed to communicate international presence clearly, surface the right services to the right regional audience, and support strong, visible calls to action at every stage of the user journey.

Mobile-first was the design priority throughout. The existing site's layouts were built for desktop and degraded on smaller screens — a significant problem for an audience making high-consideration decisions on their phones. Every layout was redesigned from the mobile view outward, with scalable components that hold their hierarchy across screen sizes without rebuilding for each.

The Services and Cars for Import pages carry the most commercial weight. Both were structured to move a visitor from general interest to specific inquiry with minimal friction — clear service descriptions, visible pricing structures where applicable, and CTAs that don't require the user to scroll to find them.

The Blog and Blog Post templates were built as scalable content surfaces — consistent enough to maintain brand coherence across posts, flexible enough to support different content formats as the team publishes more. The FAQ page was restructured around the actual questions international buyers ask, organized by stage of the import process.

SEO architecture was maintained throughout the redesign — existing URL structures, heading hierarchies, and metadata patterns were preserved and refined rather than replaced, protecting the search visibility the business had built.
