Dashboard Redesign for a Project Management Platform

Tod Media had a retention problem with a clear cause: the dashboard was overloaded. No hierarchy, no guiding logic, too many competing elements. For freelancers and small teams already managing dozens of tasks, the interface added friction instead of removing it. Users were leaving — not because the product didn't work, but because using it felt like work in itself.

A visual facelift wasn't the answer. We needed to rethink what the dashboard was fundamentally trying to do — and find a structure that made project management feel navigable rather than exhausting. The concept we landed on reframes the workspace entirely: a cosmic system where each project orbits the user like a planet around a sun.
The metaphor isn't decorative. It solves a real UX problem: how do you give a user an immediate sense of their entire workload without listing everything at once? Planet size reflects project scale. Color indicates stage. Orbit position communicates priority. The user is at the center — literally — which shifts the mental model from "navigating a tool" to "managing your own universe."

From that concept, we built a fully functional professional interface. Sidebars handle invoices, tasks, and documents. Transitions between the galactic overview and individual project detail are smooth and contextual. The dark theme reduces visual fatigue during long sessions and reinforces the platform's distinct identity in a category where most dashboards look identical.

Typography hierarchy and consistent spacing guide the eye without instruction. Every module speaks the same visual language. The result is a dashboard that's both immediately usable and genuinely memorable — the kind of interface users return to not just because they have to, but because it feels like theirs.
